Green Chili Tacos

It's taco Tuesday. BUT We have an all star game. (We won!!) The menu calls for either Carne Asada or Shrimp Tacos and both shouldn't be done in advance and reheated so I took out some hamburger for Green Chili Tacos. The kids will love it, it is easy to knock out and reheats well. Simply these are Hamburger Tacos with my homemade taco seasoning (you could use a packet) and a can of green chilis. The green chilis give it a lot of flavor but it's not spicy.

Green Chili Tacos
1 1/2 pounds Hamburger
1/2 onion diced

Taco Seasoning (or buy your favorite from the store!)
1/2 to 1 tsp Cayenne or Chipotle Chili Pepper
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1/2 tsp Cumin
1/2 tsp Oregano
1/4 cup Water

Place hamburger, onions and Green chilis in a frying pan and cook over medium heat.
I'm looking for a nice cooked meat but not crusty or crispy so take your time. I then drain mine of any extra fat (since I always buy the cheapest knowing that you dont have to keep the fat after it's cooked.)
Return drained meat back to the pan and add the spices 1/2 to 1 tsp cayenne, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp oregano and a 1/4 cup of water. Keep heat on medium and let simmer for 15 minutes.
I am serving in warmed corn tortillas (I always double the tortilla) with avocado, cheese, sour cream and my Homemade Simple Salsa!

This was The Fireman's midnight snack. Salad-less taco salad. I guess a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!!
