Gram Linda's Steak

My mother was not much of a cook when I was younger. It was more of a necessity than something she enjoyed. We didn't eat steak very often as a child. Times were tougher for us. But every once in a while we would grill up some sirloin steaks. This was her trick, her secret recipe. Her secret was always Worcestershire Sauce. It is a bold flavor that we use regularly in this house. In fact it is the key component for The Fireman's favorite Sandwich. Tonight I am not using sirloin steak but ribeyes. I am ribeye girl. But sirloin would do just fine for this recipe.

Gram Linda's Steak
steak
extra thick Worcestershire sauce
favorite steak seasoning

Season up both sides of the steak
Place onto a HOT grill

This version (Extra THICK) is perfect for grilling
Now the Ballplayer has an aversion to sauce even if you don't know there is sauce involved so I am leaving off his steak. Spoon onto the uncooked side of the steak. Gram Linda claimed that it flavored the uncooked side. Who am I to argue?

Everything else grills with it!
Once it is time to flip, make sure you sauce up the other side.
Once the steak is grilled to your liking, serve. Make sure to let rest before cutting into.

4th of July worthy Potato Salads

When I think of a BBQ or summer holiday, I always think of the potato salad. In this house, it is a huge component of the meal. I have many different variations and each one are a favorite in our house. Each member has their favorite. In fact, each child will complain while eating a second helping that I didn't make their favorite variation.

Sour Cream Ranch Potato Salad
This variation happened by accident but has become a staple in the house. You can switch out the sour cream and mayo for reduced calorie versions and you wont notice a change in flavor.

Loaded Potato Salad
I think the name says it all! Practically the kitchen sink is thrown in.

Old Fashioned Potato Salad
This is similar to the version my grandmother would make when I was a child.

Brandi's Potato Salad
Ranch is the secret! This is very easy to make and completely addictive so make extra!

4th of July worthy Burgers!!!

4th of July is right around the corner! I know my kids love the fireworks but for me, it is the food and the company of good friends that makes this holiday my favorite! Burgers are my guilty pleasure. I don't eat them that often but when I do it has to be all or nothing, full flavor and dripping down your arm! Otherwise, it is just not worth the calories. Here are some of my favorite burgers.

Apricot and Pepperjack Burger
There are certain flavors that just compliment each other. Sweet and salty are one of them. Who hasn't gone crazy over a chocolate covered pretzel? Sweet and spicy are another. If you are amongst those that love sweet with spicy you will love this. Don't let the title scare you off. This is to die for. This burger is ooey with pepperjack cheese and then cooled off with avocado and Saucy Susan apricot sauce. The sweet of the sauce compliments the pepperjack cheese. One try and you will be hooked.
Blue Cheese Stuffed BurgerChili Stuffed Burgers This is The Fireman's favorite. Infact he wasn't too happy when I shared it with the world. If you have ever eaten a burger with cheese and chilis on it, this is for you!

The Ballplayer's Favorite Burger If I am making burgers, my son has the same question everytime "grilled onions and bacon are gonna be on these, right?"

So while you are enjoying your holiday, I hope you will keep these in mind! What are your favorite burgers?
