Tater Tot Casserole

It's not a secret that The Fireman is not much of a cook. Sure I think he cooks more than he lets on. But when he came home with the best known secret recipe for tater tot casserole, I was happy to let him cook dinner for the night. I was not surprised that I would be his sous chef. It was fun. So this is The Fireman's version of Tater Tot Casserole. But really this could be switched up in any way. You could use ground turkey, add ground sausage, add some taco seasoning or any vegetable. You could use Alfredo sauce instead of cream of mushroom sauce. I could really go for some tots right now.

Tater Tot Casserole

1 1/2 - 2 lbs. ground beef
1/2 large onion diced
1 pkg ore ida crispy crowns or tater tots (32 oz) thawed
1 - can cream of mushroom soup
1 - 8 oz container sour cream
3/4 empty soup can of milk
2 - cups grated cheddar cheese
pepper
season salt
garlic salt
(to your taste)

Brown ground beef and diced onions, adding, pepper, seasoning salt and garlic salt to taste. Drain. Pour ground beef & onion mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13 casserole dish. Cover Meat with Vegetables
In a separate bowl mix together the soup, sour cream and milk. Pour the soup mixture over on top of the ground beef layer spread evenly to cover the meat mixture. Put a layer of cheese over the soupy layer. Save enough cheese to cover tots after they are brown

Top with tater tots Bake at 400 degrees uncovered for 30 minutes or until the casserole is bubbly and cheese is completely melted.
Cover with Cheese and place back in the oven for five more minutes
DINNER
Let sit 5 minutes before slicing
I will confess I picked at the tots all night
