Hot Ham & Cheese Sammie

It's amazing how this time last week it was over 100 degrees here on the West Coast. Now its cloudy and cold. Some say it is the effects of global warming but frankly I just think Mother Nature is going through menopause. Hot flashes of sort.

Cold days beg me to run the oven. I find excuses to cook using the oven. For lunch I am tossing a french bread stuffed with ham and cheese in the oven. The bread becomes all crunchy and the cheese all melted. I like to use cheap American cheese for this. It is one of the only times you will see me buy or use it but the creamy consistency is perfect for this.

Hot Ham & Cheese Sammie
serves 4
1 store bought french bread
3 TB Dijon Mustard
1 package of ham lunch meat
1 package of American cheese slices

Split the french bread lengthwise and cover one side with Dijon Mustard. I am leaving one corner without mustard for The Ballplayer.

Cover the mustard with the cheese. I goofed and you will see that I did it upside down. Over the other side with Ham. Bring both sides together and cover with foil.

Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 20 minutes.
I like to peek in to see if the cheese is melted.
Cut into four pieces.
